Festival Poster, illustrated by: Lisa Robinson

The Lilac festival is on it’s way, come see me in booth #95.

It’s a community wide celebration! It’s an international springtime party! It’s nearly time for Rochester’s annual Lilac Festival and everyone is invited to enjoy ten full days of entertainment and fun!

The only 10-day free festival of its kind in North America. It is inspired by a magnificent lilac collection at Highland Park that plays host to over 500 varieties of lilacs on more than 1,200 bushes. What was first planted in 1892 by horticulturist John Dunbar has turned into the world’s largest lilac collection that even Martha Stewart has enjoyed when she visited the festival in 2007. This event is perfect for all ages and was even voted as a top 100 event by the American Bus Association for 2010.

I spent the weekend driving to and from Syracuse selling my beads. The Innovative Bead Show didn’t bring in many people, totally disappointing, but I did OK. I hear that they have done much better in the past. Maybe it’s the economy, who knows? The best part was when a woman named Holly came back to see me on day two (she had bought from me on day one). She requested a custom order that I’m really excited about. I think I can make these hearts just the way she wants them.

I was so intrigued, that after I arrived to Rochester and unloaded everything back into the studio, I turned on the torch. I couldn’t believe I was able to get a start on them after such a far drive and intense vending experience. I’ll be going at them again late tonight. Next show is Springtime in Canandaigua. Three days long in fact, the show begins this Friday. Click the link for info. Hope to see you there.

Usually this loud talkativeness disorder that I have is not such a great thing, but when I’m at a show it gets the word out. I inform every last person I can get my hands on about First Friday. My love for The Hungerford is unstoppable. Everyone must know!

The fundraiser sponsored by Rescued Treasures Pet Adoptions at the Trinity Emmanuel Lutheran Church was slow, but fun. I even have green and teal feathers attached to my hair. Within a few days I’ll be photographing them and raving about  what a fabulous stylist Mary of Haiir By Mare is.

Last month I made a new client at Spring fling, her name is Michele, boy is she a sweetheart. Today she came by my booth, making for a total of three craft show appearances since we met. Wow! Who knew she meant it when she said she wanted to come back for the earrings. With a loyal client like this a slow show isn’t all that bad. Michele really lit up that church.

I’d like to post a few of my not so awsome photos, usually if I’m not satisfied I won’t post, but today I feel the need to get some links out there. My apologies for the embarrassing photos.

Meet my friends:

This is fellow Rochester Artisan, Jean Kene of JK Stiches, my neighbor vendor at today’s show. Perhaps I should have asked her to turn around. She’s a laid back cool individual – compared to me anyhow. Hope you are at home relaxing and enjoying that glass of wine Jean ;)

(My Chinese food arrived, it’s going to be hard to continue with this post. Hungeee.)

Now lets get to Christine Meyer of Christine & Co. Design. She rocks! She’s a super friendly woman.

(Burp, munch, munch, munch. Yummy food)

Antonia Blakeney of Crazy Babys Closet put together a show earlier in the year, The Handmade Brigade. This is how we first met. She was determined to give it her best and she did well. Antonia, please don’t hate me for posting this photo, you still look great when you blink.

Something about these dolls by Chancery Lane Primitives stole my heart away. I would like to get one for my Mom for Mothers day. First I need to sell some more darn work! I’ll just go and post a whole batch of these pics and let my food digest.

Lets not forget about the cause from todays show. Find out how you can help Rescued Treasures Pet Adoptions here. These kitties need a home.

I hope you had a good time meeting my friends. Don’t forget to click the links and check out their work.

When I hand delivered the application for this show, I was in awe of how gorgeous the Eastside YMCA is. Upon entering the YMCA the first thing you notice is the gigantic swimming pool surrounded by towering crystal clear glass walls. To the left of the pool, a warm fireplace and comfy sofas welcome you into a resting area, perfect for lounging and reading.

I’m proud to be a part of Crafts For a Cause. I’ll be offering my mini snowman ornaments for sale along with my jewelry and loose beads. Each snowman is made carefully, one at a time with my own hands. They need a good home for the holidays, make this year a handmade holiday. Hanging my ornaments on your tree will make the lights shine brighter.

My talented Grandmother, Frieda DeCaire, (who makes mind blowing quilts) expressed that I should vend at the Creator’s Bounty Arts and Crafts Sale. Thank you Grandma, you have been so supportive of me, I don’t know what to say. In fact my whole family has supported my journey, especially Jason. Thank you Jason for giving me the opportunity to stay home with Lucas and to work on my skills. I value the time I spend with Lucas and on the torch more than I could ever let you know. Someday I may just reach my ultimate goal, to make my art my livelihood.

Please help support this event by liking the Creator’s Bounty Facebook Page. I hope to see you there if you’re from around these parts.

Saturday, October 29 at St. John the Evangelist Church on Humboldt Street.
