I had made several beads of this kind in yellow, purple and blue. All were hopelesly stuck to the mandrels. This owl was the only survivor.
Note to self: Do not dip mandrels in overly watered down bead release.
I’ll have to give it a go again, my how I loved these beads. At least this little blue one made it safely off the mandrel.

Christmas Eve I noticed a funny looking little creature amongst a display of Precious Moments characters. Who could it be but Papa Penguin sitting there in the Scott’s cabinet, just staring at me. I had forgotten all about him. Not being able to shake him from my mind, several baby Penguins were brought to life during a recent torching session. What a perfect way to start off the New Year and better yet, he is a good candidate for the next team challenge.

This is my first cookie pendant and it was a success! There’s no better name for it, this two inch glass pendant is huge, just like a cookie. Unfortunately Santa can not eat it while he is hard at work tonight.

Midnight the cat has a half moon design on his back. The whole midnight cat family is dressed in style for Halloween. Tabular cat beads may be the perfect template for a variety of designs. I have done a few cats already in polkadots. Maybe hearts will be next?

Jason was having a few brews in the Garage with our friend Jriz while I was on the torch. He kept saying to JRiz, ” Look out, pretty soon she’s gonna ask you if you want to make a bead.” Foreshadowing what was to come, this was the statement that made it obvious to me that he was finally considering my offer.
About fifteen minutes later he exclaimed, “I’m gonna make a motorcycle bead.” Turns out he had a very obscure idea of how he was going to do it.

Moretti Silver Plum is the latest addition to my glass pallet. I had this style of bead on my mind when I added this top of the line color to my shopping cart during my last glass order.
Moretti Silver Plum has a deep concentration of silver. I used mostly a neutral flame while shaping this bead, hoping it would draw the silver to the surface. The results were as I expected. Once I learn to tame this color in the flame I should be able to achieve a variety of effects with it.

Once in a while I like to make jewelery with my beads. This is something I will be doing more often now that I have Hirsute as an outlet. Tracy, my best friend, was my ride home from First Friday. (I have two bestest friends, Tracy and Katy. I don’t know if I could live without them.) Yes, I had way too much wine to drink. To thank her for getting me home safely I gave her this bracelet.
